    A REAL RESCUE PLAN FOR AFRICAN AMERICANS

    As employment plummets within the current job market, which is being defined today as the worst economy since the 1930 depression, the benefits of starting your own business is fast becoming one of the only viable options left for generating income. This is especially true for African Americans, who are silently suffering from job losses that are twice the national rate, and continues to grow as the general economy worsens.

    1. Keep very good records: Unlike a large company in which someone is hired to maintain records of all income and expenses, it is up to you to keep very good records, save all receipts and be able to support your deductions.

    2. Office space: Whether you have a separate office facility or are using a portion of your basement or a converted den, you can deduct the percentage of your home used exclusively for business purposes. Take this percentage off of your mortgage or rent payments as well as your utilities. If you have a phone exclusively used for business, deduct those phone bills.

    3. Don’t forget business expenses: Keep receipts and good records of business travel and other expenses including office supplies, postage and shipping costs, dues, subscriptions, and anything else business-related, including computer software for your business and upgrades to your system.

    In his last great works concerning the economic development of the African American economy titled “Blueprint for Black Power…a moral, political and economic imperative for the twenty-first century. The late great Dr. Amos Wilson draws this distinction as follows:

    THERE ARE NO MORE JOBS FOR US TO DO FOR OTHERS…OUR CHOICES TODAY ARE BECOMING MORE AND MORE PRONOUCED WITH EACH PASSING DAY – UNEMPLOYMENT OR SELF-EMPLOYMENT!

    And the technologies of Online Jobs are becoming the next rationale choice for us to prosper in these times of job loss and economic uncertainty. As the U.S. economy continues to free-fall, millions of Americans are finding themselves without jobs, sufficient retirement or paychecks coming in. In March alone the number of unemployed increased by 694,000 to 13.2 million. Throughout history those on the cutting edge have adapted and prospered by knowing how to adapt to current economic climates.
